MAD Concaves Bushel Plus
With all the time, sweat, and money you put in to growing your crop, you cannot afford to lose grain through the combine. Grain on the ground today can become weeds to remove tomorrow–and we know chemical costs are not getting cheaper. Also, if you are putting your crop in the bin, you want clean, undamaged grain. And, while switching to a different crop often requires a different concave to be installed, be ready to set aside a couple hours of knuckle busting and heavy lifting to swap out the OEM concaves–and to re-calibrate the machine afterwards.
MAD Concaves would be a great fit for anyone that owns a combine. Their aggressive pattern design means that threshing is more efficient. There are several patterns to choose from, but here’s the thing–instead of replacing an entire concave in each position (1, 2, and maybe 3), insert a durable yet lightweight split-frame into each position, and then swap out two modular inserts (about 30 pounds each) that are fastened by a couple bolts. Swapping out inserts does not require a new calibration. This modular setup is available for John Deere S and STS series, CaseIH 88-series, and New Holland CR series 22-inch-rotor machines. Concaves are also available for John Deere X9 and CaseIH ‘flagship’ combines, but these are not modular.
Competitor concaves are often advertised as “the only set you will need” for whatever crops you are harvesting. There are a few patterns that work well across corn and soybeans, but smaller grains usually require specific attention. Grain size, machine capacity, machine settings, humidity–all sorts of factors contribute to the process.
